LIFE CHOICES EXPANDS POPULAR CHAIR YOGA CLASSES TO LARGER VENUE

Glen Innes Severn Council’s Life Choices Support Services (LC-SS) is moving the popular “Gentle Stretches from a Chair” classes to the Glen Innes Services Club after a surge in community interest and attendance.

The service, delivered by Yoga with Bron, offers a gentle exercise program tailored to aged care participants, focusing on chair-based stretching and movement to promote physical wellbeing and social connection in a supportive group environment.

The venue change follows consistent positive feedback and increasing participation, enabling the program to now accommodate up to 30 people per session in a more spacious and accessible venue.

Acting Mayor Carol Sparks said Council is pleased with the strong community response to the program and that the venue change reflects its growing success.

“Life Choices plays an important role in offering opportunities that support wellbeing and social connection for aged care participants.”

“With this service moving to a larger space, Life Choices can welcome more participants each week, while the gentle, chair-based classes continue to provide the valued support our community appreciates,” Cr Sparks said.

Starting 28 July 2025, new classes will run every Monday (excluding public holidays) at 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM, with costs of $7 for My Aged Care referrals and $18 for privately funded participants.

Each session includes guided stretching and time to socialise over tea and coffee, helping to build community connections and friendships among participants.

Participants must have a valid My Aged Care (MAC) referral for Social Support Group services. New attendees are entitled to one complimentary session and private participants may be approved by LC-SS.

All safety protocols remain in place, including appropriate spacing between participants, adherence to work health and safety requirements and compliance with aged care quality standards.
