Garbage and Recycling Collection
Garbage Collection in Glen Innes takes place on a weekly basis, and recycling is collected on a fortnightly basis.
It is important that all bins left for collection are separated by a minimum distance of 1.5 metres as demonstrated in the image to the right.
Council would like to remind residents that all mobile waste bins are to be placed for collection in front of the property to which the bins belong, within the Council road reservation, the night before the allocated collection day.
Bins that are not presented to the street prior to the commencement of the collection service will not be collected and the resident will be responsible for its disposal at the local landfill facility.
If you are unsure of which collection area you are in, please refer to the Waste Collection Area Map and Calendar(PDF, 213KB) of Waste Collection for both RECYCLING and GARBAGE collection services.
If you have any other questions or issues in relation to garbage and recycling services, please direct them to Council's Church Street office on (02) 6730 2350.
Do you have a new house needing a garbage service? or do you need a replacement bin?
You can complete an Application for Garbage Service 2022-2023(PDF, 60KB) for new services or replacement services (charges may apply) and return to Town Hall Administration Office for processing.
Recycling Services
Recycling occurs every fortnight in Glen Innes, Deepwater and Emmaville. Glencoe recycling occurs on the last Thursday of each month.
Please refer to the 2023 Waste Collection Calendar and Area Map link above for information and service dates relevant to your location.

Information about the Safe Disposal of Syringes
Council reminds residents that syringes are not recyclable (even if the plastic is separated from the needle) and pose a health risk to all staff working at the materials recovery facility. In response to this issue, Council will be undertaking a programmed schedule of recycling bin inspections and may consider withdrawing recycling services from those residents whose recycling bins contain syringes.
Syringes should not be disposed of in the garbage either. They should be stored in an appropriate puncture resistant plastic container with a screw top, and disposed of at a community sharps disposal facility, such as the one located at Glen Innes Hospital.
For more information on the safe disposal of syringes, please visit the Community Sharps Management website: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/csm/Pages/default.aspx
