BUSINESSES ENCOURAGED TO RISE & THRIVE DURING NSW SMALL BUSINESS MONTH

Local businesses, entrepreneurs, employers and community organisations are invited to connect, learn and explore new opportunities during NSW Small Business Month 2026, with Glen Innes Severn Council launching a month-long program of events and activities across October.

Rise & Thrive – NSW Small Business Month 2026 will be centred around the Glen Innes Highlands Hub, bringing together business support agencies, industry representatives, training providers, government organisations and local business owners through a series of practical workshops, networking opportunities and information sessions.

Designed to make support more accessible, the program focuses on helping local businesses connect with the people, information and resources they need to grow, adapt and thrive.

Activities throughout the month include business breakfasts, keynote speakers, Lunch & Learn sessions, workshops, one-on-one advisory opportunities, workforce and training connections, visitor economy insights, women in business events and activities supporting young and emerging entrepreneurs.

The program also highlights the growing role of the Glen Innes Highlands Hub as a local meeting place where businesses, government agencies, education providers and community organisations can collaborate and access support close to home.

Mayor Margot Davis said small businesses play a vital role in the strength and identity of the Glen Innes Highlands.

“Our small businesses are at the heart of the Glen Innes Highlands. They create local jobs, support community organisations and events, provide essential services and help shape the character of our towns and villages. Small Business Month is an opportunity to celebrate that contribution while connecting local businesses with new ideas, practical support and opportunities that can help them grow and succeed.”

Program highlights include sessions exploring visitor trends and opportunities for local businesses, apprenticeships and workforce pathways, regional industry updates, young entrepreneurship, business support services and the growing Glen Innes Health Hub.

The month concludes on Friday 30 October with a full day of activities at the Highlands Hub, including a business breakfast, an Open Day and Creative After Dark, bringing together local creatives, businesses and the wider community.

As a registered NSW Small Business Month Collaboration Partner, Council's Rise & Thrive program offers something for established businesses, start-ups, people considering a new venture, those returning to the workforce, employers looking to grow their teams and anyone seeking new connections or opportunities.

Rise & Thrive – NSW Small Business Month 2026 runs throughout October at the Glen Innes Highlands Hub and participating locations across the region.
