The RE‑WIRED Seniors Festival is a welcoming, inclusive program designed to help older residents slow down, reconnect and try something new. Across two weeks, the festival offers gentle movement, creativity, learning, technology support, storytelling and social connection, with activities you can join at your own pace.

RE‑WIRED Launch & Engagement Day

Begin your Seniors Festival journey by taking time to re‑wire your body, mind and connections at the official RE‑WIRED Seniors Festival Launch.
The morning includes:
  • A gentle, all‑abilities yoga session focusing on movement, breath and balance
  • Live music and a shared morning tea
  • A First Nations weaving and yarning circle centred on creativity, storytelling and cultural exchange
A Visitor Information Centre marquee will be available throughout the day to help you explore the full festival program, assist with bookings, and answer questions about accessibility and participation. You can also enjoy music, a Standing Stones tour, service provider information and light refreshments.
Whether you’re looking to move, create, learn or connect, this is a relaxed and meaningful way to start the festival.

Mindful Mornings – Chair Yoga

Start your day with a gentle chair yoga session suitable for all abilities, followed by conversation and morning tea. A relaxed way to support wellbeing and social connection.

Venue: Highlands Hub Community Lounge
Drop in, grab a cuppa and enjoy a soundtrack of memories as local seniors share stories, reflections and life experiences. Light refreshments available.

Tech & Tea Café – Canva Basics

Dates:

A relaxed, beginner‑friendly introduction to Canva, an easy online design tool for creating posters, invitations, photo collages and social posts. No experience needed — simply pop in, ask questions and have a play in a supportive environment.

Tech & Tea Café – Smarter Living (Practical AI Workshop)

Date: Thursday 5 March
Time: 10.00am – 12.00pm

Curious about Artificial Intelligence (AI)? This practical, beginner‑friendly workshop explores how AI can support everyday life in a safe and useful way.
You’ll learn how AI can help with:
  • Writing emails and letters
  • Finding trustworthy information online
  • Organising ideas, plans and reminders
  • Supporting hobbies and lifelong learning
  • Understanding online scams, privacy and digital safety
No experience required. Slow‑paced, easy‑to‑follow and designed especially for seniors. Light refreshments provided.

Discover the local Wrap with Love volunteer knitting and crocheting group and learn how handmade wraps are shared with people in need across Australia and internationally.

Live in Colour

Join world‑renowned silk artist and author Kim Michelle Toft to learn her unique silk painting techniques inspired by the colour and light of the underwater world. Kim’s work also illustrates her environmental children’s picture books.

Placemaking Art Project

Venue: TAFE Ceramic Studio, Grey Street
Be part of a community placemaking project and create a colourful ceramic tile for a future Glen Innes installation linked to the Live in Colour workshop. Members of the Glen Innes Pottery Club will be on hand to help.
