CENTENNIAL PARKLANDS PROJECT COMMENCES WITH SOD-TURNING EVENT

In a momentous stride toward community enhancement, construction has officially kicked off for the Centennial Parklands new amenities, outdoor seating, and playground project.

An inaugural sod-turning event - attended by Glen Innes Severn Council Mayor and distinguished guests - marked the beginning of a transformative journey aimed at revitalising the cherished community space.

The initiative has been made possible through funding from the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program.

Glen Innes Severn Council Mayor Rob Banham said the funding empowers Council to not only restore Centennial Parklands but create a community space that will hold deep significance for residents and visitors alike.

"The upgraded amenities, renewed children's playground, and enhanced seating areas will create a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy. Together, we are rebuilding and creating a brighter future for our community," Cr Banham said.

The addition of a modern amenities block, complemented by outdoor seating and a playground, will breathe new life into the area adjacent to the Crofters Cottage, providing both locals and visitors with an enhanced space to enjoy. This enhancement aims to elevate the overall experience during the upcoming Australian Celtic Festival held in May 2024.

Shay Brennan Constructions, a renowned construction firm with a history of successful projects, has been engaged to bring the Centennial Parklands Project to fruition.

Works are expected to be completed by late April, subject to weather conditions or unforeseen delays.

This project received grant funding from the Australian Government and is supported by Glen Innes Severn Council.
