RURAL ROADSIDE SIGNS

Published on 10 July 2023

UPDATE: 20 February 2024

Kindly note that payment for approved Rural Roadside Sign applications is due by Thursday, 29 February 2024.
Council is unable to extend this payment deadline, and a sign won't be ordered if the installation payment has not been paid.
If you have not yet made your payment, please visit Council's Main Administration at Town Hall - 265 Grey Street, Glen Innes - with your unique ID number before the deadline.

UPDATE: 17 January 2024

GLENRAC and Council have been working together to manage the Rural Roadside Signs project for residents of the Glen Innes Severn Council Local Government Area.

Council has had an incredibly positive response to this initiative and are proud of the community for having such a high level of attention to their safety. Signs will start to be installed in February with the remainder in March.

Please be advised due to the high volume of responses, delays may occur. The order of installation will not necessarily be in order of payment, rather based on locality. We thank you for your patience.

Council was successful in receiving a grant in 2022 to make available free reflective rural address signage, along with paid installation service of $100.00 + GST for up to 2,700 Local Government Area rural properties.

The purpose of the project is to address some of the lessons learnt from the 2019 Black Summer Bushfires where it was very difficult for emergency services to locate entrances onto rural properties – particularly at night or during low visibility.

GLENRAC is managing the roll out of community consultation and initial capture of data for this project. Council will manage the collection of installation fees, addressing compliance and installation of the signage.

This project has received grant funding from the Australian Government and is supported by Glen Innes Severn Council.
