Council uses Otta seal for fixing roads for many good reasons. Otta seal is a type of bituminous surface treatment that is formed by adding graded aggregate to a soft bituminous binding agent. Otta seal does not cause prolonged delays in traffic, it takes a few hours to resurface a road and is usable almost immediately afterwards. Environmentally, Otta seal helps to lower the dust level and it also contributes to a reduction in environmental degradation.
An Otta seal project commenced on Pinkett Road which is producing great results, is shown in the images (see link below).
Roads to be sealed in the coming months, under the State Government’s Fixing Local Roads Program Round 2, include Strathbogie Road, Ten Mile Road at Deepwater and Tent Hill Road at Emmaville.
It is still a long road ahead but Council’s work crews have been busy during bouts of favourable weather on bitumen sealing projects throughout the local area. During April, bitumen reseals were completed on Red Range Road, Waterloo Road, Rangers Valley Road, Emmaville Road and Dumaresq Street.
