Council is introducing the community to an exciting opportunity which is currently being investigated for a community partnership with an organisation called Youth Insearch, which will offer great benefits to local youth.
A community information and discussion forum will be held for community members and organisations to highlight the need for community support, collaboration and funding, prior to establishing a partnership with Youth Insearch to make this opportunity become a reality. The forum will take place
on Wednesday, 24 February 2021 at the Glen Innes Town Hall at 7.00pm.
Youth Insearch has proposed developing a partnership with the Glen Innes community which would facilitate the establishment of a permanent Community Based Worker position within the Glen Innes Severn LGA. The Community Based Worker is sourced from a social work background. The position is designed to complement and assist any existing community programs, strategic plans and objectives and so would be of benefit to the community.
The overall responsibility for financing the Community Based Worker sits with the local community. If the community were unsuccessful in securing the necessary funds, the Community Based Worker position would not be established or continue long term. Without community support, collaboration and funding this initiative will not be possible. So come along to the forum this Wednesday night if you are involved with or interested in programs for local youth.
