HOW DOES COUNCIL DETERMINE WHEN TO EASE UP ON WATER RESTRICTIONS
Council’s Drought Management Plan holds the key to information on how decisions on water restrictions are made. It can be viewed here: Drought Management Plan
Please note that the following information on “Recovering from Extreme Drought (Level Five) has been added to the Drought Management Plan subsequent to the April 2020 Ordinary Meeting of Council:
“When flow in the Beardy Waters again overflows the weir after extreme drought, the Eerindii Ponds will be pumped until full. This may take some time as water quality recovers in the Beardy Waters. Restriction levels will be reduced to level three (3) when North Pond reaches 50% full, level two (2) when North Pond reaches 70% full, and Level one (1) when reaching 90% full.”
Any changes to water restrictions will be communicated through Council’s Website and Facebook page as well as through local media.
