LOCAL BUSINESS WINS INNOVATION AWARD

Jay and Tanya Weir of Weir Built Construction receive their award

Glen Innes business, Weir Built Construction, took out the Manufacturing and Engineering Award at the ninth Northern Inland Innovation Awards dinner held at the Inverell RSM Club last week.  Owners Jay and Tanya Weir received the award for the innovative modular timber laminate bridge design contracted by Glen Innes Severn Council to replace the aging Nine Mile Road bridge this year.

Jay Weir designed and engineered the new bridge, and installed it at the well known Severn River crossing with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, the Honourable Barnaby Joyce, officially opening the new bridge in August.
