FOOTPATHS FOR PEDESTRIANS ONLY

New Signs in CBD

New signs have been put up in the CBD to remind everyone that the riding of bicycles, scooters, skate boards and rollerblades on the footpaths is prohibited.   The signs mark the area along Grey Street between Lang and Ferguson Streets, and Bourke Street from Church Street to East Avenue.  Both the local Police and Council continue to receive complaints from the public about people riding on the footpaths in a manner that endangers the safety of pedestrians, particularly the welfare of our older residents.

Police and Council Rangers can fine a person and confiscate the equipment being ridden.   Please park your bicycles and scooters before entering the CBD or wheel them safely along the footpaths, and carry skate boards and rollerblades until you have left the CBD.
