Australia Day Awards 2018

Council is calling for nominations for the Australia Day Awards 2018. The aim of these awards is to honour, on Australia Day, the voluntary achievements of fellow citizens, community groups and community events.

There are five (5) categories of events:

Citizen of the Year: The Australia Day Council Plaque and certificate of recognition, Glen Innes Severn Council ‘Citizen of the Year’ Perpetual Shield (which is kept on display at Council).

Young Citizen of the Year: The Australia Day Council Plaque and certificate of recognition, Glen Innes Severn Council ‘Young Citizen of the Year’ Perpetual Shield (which is kept on display at Council).

Community Event of the Year: The Australia Day Council Plaque and certificate of recognition.

Voluntary Community Organisation of the Year: The Australia Day Council Plaque and certificate of recognition.

Emergency Service Volunteer of the Year: The Australia Day Council Plaque and certificate of recognition.

 

Guidelines

All residents and/or organisations of Glen Innes Severn Local Government Area are eligible for nomination. The Glen Innes Severn Council Australia Day Committee will judge the nominations based on the information provided and their decision shall be final.

The Committee shall select the Award winners, taking into account:

  • Outstanding voluntary service to the community.
  • Outstanding voluntary contribution of time and talents to a good cause.

The nomination forms listed below must be used, attaching information to support your nomination of no more than two (2) x A4 pages, and all information should be typed or clearly handwritten (maximum of two (2) x A4 pages only), otherwise the nomination will not be considered by the Committee.

The recipients of the awards shall be announced during Glen Innes’ Australia Day celebrations. All valid nominees will be recognised.

Young Citizen Nominees must be 26 years or under as at 26 January 2018.

 

All nominations should be clearly marked “Australia Day Nomination” and lodged at Glen Innes Severn Council, 265 Grey Street, (P.O. Box 61) Glen Innes NSW 2370. Nominations close at 4.30pm on Monday, 11 December 2017. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
