‘Over the Fence: Cultivating our own Backyard.'
As the third tier of Government, councils often are seen as only the providers of basic services, such as garbage collection, roads, landscaping, parking, the approval for local developments, renovations etc. However, they are the lynchpin in working with the community to provide parks, cultural projects, special events, Australia Day ceremonies and community services. "Over the fence' is opening the gate to councils working with residents to nurture 'their own backyard'.
